Welcome to Victoria Playing Fields Football Club – VPFC. (Soon to be St Albans United).
We are a friendly, inclusive, and FA Accredited football club based in St Albans, providing footballing opportunities to school-aged children, both girls and boys. Our club is built on a foundation of community, confidence-building, teamwork, and—above all—fun.
VPFC offers two distinct but connected pathways:
✔️ Our Skills Section – where players develop their technique and love of the game.
✔️ Our League Section – for those ready to take the step into competitive football, while continuing to develop in a positive, friendly environment.
VPFC Skills Section – Fun, Football & Development
The Skills Section is the foundation of VPFC and where all players begin their footballing journey. Whether your child is completely new to the game or already has a passion for football, our structured Saturday morning sessions help them develop their skills at their own pace in a fun, inclusive, and supportive environment.
What You Can Expect at VPFC
A typical morning at our Skills sessions includes:
✅ A warm-up to get moving
✅ 2–4 targeted practices focusing on skills like dribbling, passing, and shooting
✅ Small-sided games and group matches to apply those skills in play
Our focus is on participation, development, and enjoyment, ensuring every child gains confidence and improves at a pace that suits them.

VPFC League Section – Competitive Football, Same Club Values
For those looking to play in competitive matches, our League Section offers the chance to progress while staying within the VPFC community.
What Does League Football Involve?
VPFC is affiliated with two Hertfordshire leagues, giving our teams two great Saturday-morning options:
- Herts Youth League (HYL) – boys, girls’ or mixed teams competing across Hertfordshire.
- Herts Girls Football Partnership League (HGFPL) – the county’s dedicated girls’ league, with 6,000+ players and a friendly, community ethos.
Teams train mid-week and play home-and-away fixtures on Saturday mornings.
Despite the step-up into competition, our values stay the same: fun, inclusion, teamwork and long-term player development always come first.

🫶 A Charity Led by Volunteers
VPFC is entirely run by volunteers and operates as a registered charity (St Albans United, no. 1215273).
Our purpose is to promote community participation in healthy recreation by providing opportunities and facilities for children to take part in sport in a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment.
We remain not-for-profit — every penny goes back into the club to cover essentials like equipment, insurance, and pitch hire, with any surplus reinvested to improve opportunities for local players.
No salaries are paid; our coaches, administrators, and committee members are all volunteers — parents and community members giving their time to help children thrive through sport.
Over the coming year, we’ll gradually rebrand under our new charity name, St Albans United, while continuing to operate as VPFC for the rest of this season. The familiar blue-and-yellow kit and community spirit that define our club will remain the same.
Why Choose VPFC?
✅ FA Accredited – We meet the highest standards of safeguarding, coaching, and club management.
✅ Inclusive & Welcoming – No trials, no skill barriers – just football for all.
✅ Pathways for Every Child – Stay in Skills or transition to League – the choice is yours.
✅ Rooted in the Local Community – Our home grounds are close together in and around St Albans, ensuring football remains accessible, while our choice of leagues for our League section limits travel for matches.
